PASTOR’S NOTES
We have truly been blessed during our worship in the courtyard in the month of August. The Lord has been surrounding our congregation in beautiful weather, wonderful fellowship, including many new folks, and indescribable peace. It was not difficult to sense the awesome presence of God. We have celebrated and offered praise and thanksgiving to God in music and song, under the enthusiastic and inspirational leadership of Rev. Mary Lou Flesh, using both guitar and voice.
We are preparing to resume worship in our sanctuary during the month of September. We will also be offering a new Bible study, based on the Disciple Bible Study format. This study is designed for those who wish to work on their spiritual growth. It is 11 weeks in length and will require daily reading and reflecting on Scripture, 6 days a week, and will begin in September. The class will be offered more than once a week, so please let me know if you are interested in attending. Informational sessions will be provided Monday evening, Sept. 6, at 7:00pm and Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 7, at 1:00pm. [This is a change in dates.] If you are still interested, but cannot attend either of those sessions, please contact me and I will make arrangements!
We will be beginning an 11-week study “Invitation to John,” based on the model of Disciple Bible Study. We will be offering an introductory session Monday August 30, 2010 at 7:00pm and Tuesday August 31, 2010 at 1:00pm. This is a study that requires daily reading and writing your thoughts, six days a week. Sessions are scheduled for 1½ hours in length, beginning in September. If you are interested in this class, but are unable to make either of the introductory sessions, please let me know and special arrangements will be made.
One more thing: our change of worship to the outdoors required several additional responsibilities. Our appreciation goes to all who provided for our needs, including those who provided shade with canopies, those who set up chairs every week, those who prepared the coffee and prepared the goodies, and the one who carefully maintained the lawn so beautifully.
God bless you all,
Pastor Phyllis
Please untie the knots… prayer
Dear God:
Please untie the knots
that are in my mind,
my heart and my life.
Remove the have nots,
the can nots and the do nots
that I have in my mind
Erase the will nots,
may nots
might nots, that may find
a home in my heart.
Release me from the could nots,
would nots and
should nots that obstruct my life.
And most of all, dear God,
I ask that you remove from my mind,
my heart and my life, all of the “am nots”
that I have allowed to hold me back,
especially the thought
that I am not good enough. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
